Rainbow Droppers: A Fine Motor Activity

All this rain in Miami has really been getting me down guys! The house looks like a tornado went straight through it without any indoor activities.  We busted out the food dye and droppers yesterday and it was a hit with my 3 year old and kept him very busy while I attempted to make dinner.  My daughter who is 16 months doesn’t really have the skills for the dropper so I ended up just giving her a small paintbrush. Here's what skills you're building:

🌈Increasing strength for tripod grasp

🌈Fine motor control

🌈Graded pressure control (so they don't end up smashing all things delicate)

🌈Visual scanning

🌈Color discrimination

🌈Creativity

All you need is:

  • Food dye

  • Ice trays

  • Napkins

  • Dropper
