Card Sorting - A Multifaceted Skill Building Activity

Easiest weekend indoor activity for keeping little hands busy EVER (ages 3 and up) all you need is a deck of cards😊

1- have your little stack cards in piles by # (ex: 2’s, 3’s)

2- once they’re all organized in piles have them put the piles in order from biggest to smallest (A to 2)

3- Put the aces at top and have them sequence the cards counting down (organized by suite)

💙works on sequencing skills (the ability to organize in order)

💙works on divided attention (the ability to pay attention to two things at the same time (the suite and the number) .. a higher level executive functioning cognitive skill

💙works on counting and math skills

💙surprisingly even holding cards and flipping them over is a high level hand skill that requires a LOT of bilateral coordination and intrinsic muscle coordination (refining fine motor skills)
